Located in Ridgefield, CT and
Baldwin Place, NY

Pop Art! kids is greatly
inspired through the
Reggio Emilia Approach.

This approach sees children as competent, full of curiosity and potential, and eager to connect with the world around them. So how does our studio Reggio? Our teachers act as facilitators, not directors, allowing the curriculum to emerge from the children’s interests. Our environment is designed and curated thoughtfully and purposefully with 6 multi-sensory stations positioned throughout the open studio space. This provides an opportunity for children to explore, ask questions and take ownership of their learning experience. We look to the children to see what they are interested in. We are following the child’s lead during play, instead of directing. And we get messy along the way, with the intention of creating magical memories together.

At Pop Art! kids, we create invitations and activities that intentionally integrate a variety of senses.

Through trial and error, support from adults and watching their peers, our little artists try new things and build on their skills.

Sensory play promotes learning! It builds nerve connections in the brain and are better able to remember and recall learned information. Sensory play facilitates exploration, creativity and curiosity in children who may be seeking, or avoiding certain types of stimuli. It allows for strengthening of the brain pathways and connections that allow for efficient sensory integration. Amazingly, it most noticeably promotes self-regulation by allowing for interaction with different mediums that may be calming for the child. Each week, new textures, scents and materials are brought into the studio to give our little artists new sensory experiences to eagerly anticipate.
